Welcome to “The Porch Studio” “come on in and sit a spell”.
That is where you can find me most days dropping wonderful water and pigment on
paper. Sometimes I will change it up and pull out a canvas and a tube or two of
acrylics but, most of the time it is watercolor for me. I love the way the
colors rush onto the water and mingle on the paper. You could call me a purist
if you want. You see I use transparent color and leave the white of the paper.
My palette of choice is limited color, not lack of color just not to many. It
is all about color, as I sit and look really look at my subject to see the
color that it holds. Then I try to let the paint mix in the water on paper.
Most of my paintings are landscapes of the town were I live or of the beach
that is my home away from home.
When I’m not on
the “Porch” you will find me out teaching kids art classes. I love working with
children, they are free and it is all about the process to them. They are not
afraid to take chances. Sometimes I wonder if I do not learn more from them.

stop by the “North Carolina General Stores” on
South White Street and look for the porch built in the back of the shop and say hello I love to meet new
